Cookie policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
Privacy Checked uses as few cookies as the service allows. Necessary cookies are always on. Analytics and marketing cookies load only after you choose to allow them in the banner, and you can change your choice at any time.
Your consent choice
Your accept/decline choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key pc_consent_v1, not as a cookie. Nothing in the analytics or marketing categories loads until that choice is made, in line with Google Consent Mode v2.
Categories
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Keeps you signed in and the site secure. Always on, no consent needed. | Supabase auth session cookies | Session, or up to 1 year for "stay signed in" |
| Analytics | Tells us which pages are used, so we can improve the service. Loads only after consent. | Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) |
Up to 2 years |
| Marketing | Measures campaign performance. Loads only after consent. | Google Ads (_gcl_au and related) |
Up to 90 days |
Third parties
Google Tag Manager (gtm.js) and any tags inside it are hard-gated: the container script itself is not requested until you grant at least one optional category, and no third-party tag inside it can run before that point.
Changing your choice
Use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page, or the button above, to reopen the banner and change your choice at any time.
